The Foundation Stone for Glanis Hospital was laid in May 2018 by the then Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu Mr. Banwarilal Purohit and the hospital was inaugurated in April 2022 by the Hon’ble Health Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. Ma Subramanian and the then Hon’ble Finance Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan. Since then, we have made significant progress in a short span of time. We have witnessed tremendous growth in patient visits, highlighting the trust and confidence placed in our healthcare services.

Since it became operational in April 2022., the 100 bed Glanis Hospital has been providing patients with world class healthcare services in an innovative and ultra-modern facility specially designed to promote healing. Glanis Hospital provides a diversity and quality of care conducive to training medical students and highly skilled clinicians and will be a pioneer in clinical and translational biomedical research of value to the population of Madurai and the surrounding regions. As per the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery (Dr Grossman et al in J Trauma 1997;42:723-729), ‘response and transport times are longer in rural areas, compared with urban areas and rural victims are over seven times more likely to die before arrival in a hospital’. Taking far-reaching evidence from the literature, Glanis Hospital provides 24 x 7 emergency medical care, pharmacy, laboratory & imaging services to people residing in nearly 400 villages in the vicinity.

Being staffed 24 x 7 with qualified & trained doctors, nurses, technicians and paramedical personnel makes it possible for Glanis Hospital to provide emergency medical services to the village residents, who hitherto had to travel more than 25 kms to the nearest city to seek emergency medical care. Hundreds of victims of Heart Attack, Accident & Trauma, Snake-bites and other emergency ailments have been promptly treated and many lives saved through the Glanis 24 x 7 emergency medical service.

Glanis Hospital has been proactive in adopting cost-effective measures without compromising on the quality of care. By implementing efficient supply chain management, optimizing inventory levels, and negotiating favourable contracts with suppliers, the hospital has been able to control costs and provide affordable healthcare services. In tune with the mission, spirit & philosophy of Glanis Hospital and its parent organization – SCP Medical Foundation (Charitable Trust) – the hospital has been providing medical service at affordable cost to the rural population in the Thirumangalam, Peraiyur and Kallikudi taluks of South Madurai district. The charge for general medical consultation at Glanis Hospital is only Rs. 50 /- (Rupees fifty only) for all patients. The charge for in-patient services, surgeries, laboratory & imaging services are all at stunningly low rates as provided below. Breaking the cost barriers and taking health care to the poor & needy is engrained in the uncompromising tenor & texture of our operations and we are emerging as an unparalleled affordable, rural health care delivery model.

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra & Mudhalvar Marundhagam are special programmes of the Government of India & Government of Tamil Nadu respectively to make high-quality medicines available to the people at an affordable cost. Through these programmes, license is given to eligible entities to run the low-cost pharmacy outlets. Drugs undergo rigorous quality checks by government agencies before they are supplied to the pharmacy outlets. We have obtained license to run the Jan Aushadhi pharmacy & Mudhalvar Marundhagam pharmacy at the premises of Glanis Hospital, through which we are able to provide medicines to the rural population at 30 % - 90 % discounted rates. It has come as a big boon that medicines are being made available at Glanis Hospital at only a fraction of the cost at which they are sold in other retail pharmacies and people residing in the villages near Glanis Hospital have benefited immensely.
